Brady was a four year varsity player for Waukesha Lacrosse. He played on summer/fall club teams and finished with Pirate Lacrosse. Brady also played hockey and was a captain for the Wings hockey club. As a two sport athlete, Brady integrates these talents to the lacrosse field. Brady was always one to bring it on game day. We were able to catch up with Brady in March of 2021. His recruiting story is below.

Pirate Lacrosse: How did you choose your school?

BH: “‘I loved the fact that Edgewood was not too far away from home. I also liked the location in general. When I first drove up to the campus it was in such a beautiful wooded area, the scenery and campus just looked so cool to me.”

“ As for the actual school side of things, It’s a small school, which means I’d have smaller class sizes. But socially I am right by UW Madison which is a big city with lots of things to do.”

“Also the coaches at Edgewood are always reaching out to their players and trying to help them out with all aspects of student life. Which is something I really liked and wanted to be a part of.”

Pirate Lacrosse: What was your recruiting process?

BH: “When I was younger I did a ton of showcases, one big one for me was the Twin Cities Showcase. I also played on several travel teams and would mainly talk to any coaches who contacted me after tournaments. I would stay in contact with the coaches and schools I liked. I love the game and that always made me want to be better. I also had a chip on my shoulder which just made me want to play at a higher level, I was always practicing to be the best I could be.”

“Specifically for Edgewood I got the coaches number, and contacted him before one of my Pirate tournaments. I told him when and where I’d be playing. After the game he told me to stay in contact with him. After keeping in contact with him he told me to apply to the school, and once I was accepted he told me to take a visit and tour of the school. From there I watched a practice, saw the school, and was able to talk with a few of the current team members.”

Pirate Lacrosse: What is one thing you would impart onto someone else trying to play college lacrosse?

BH: “If you want to play lacrosse at a higher level, you have to put in the work yourself. It’s your life so you have to take the initiative to do your best. It is also important that you keep up your communication and make sure you are getting what you want. Always have a realistic list of schools, and stay true to yourself while working hard.”
